Locals demand for resignation of Arua City deputy RDC

Angry protestors stormed the office of the RCC in Arua City calling for resignation of the Deputy Resident City Commissioner Ham Muzamil Ezama accusing him conniving with hard-core criminals.

This follows the release of two hard core criminals suspected to cause havoc in the city, under unclear circumstances.

They allege that on several occasions, Ezama while conniving with the families of the arrested persons, uses his office to cause the release of suspected hard-core criminals.

Said Suleiman, a community member said that as they have been working together with Police to end criminality in the city, they observed that Ham was against the move and worked tirelessly to see those arrested, released.

"There are some elements in your office, for example Ham forged some documents to release the boys. It means he is somebody supporting criminals that's why these two criminals were released yesterday, as the community members in Arua City, we are petitioning your office because we don't want him in this office," he said.

They referred to an LC court ruling that ordered the said gang members to return what they stole or compensate their victims.

Atiku Abdal Tiff Juma, the LC 1 chairman of Oli B cell, says that the actions of the Deputy RCC are sabotaging their efforts to fight criminality.

"We call for the immediate transfer or resignation of this RCC".

The District Police Commander, Emmanuel Bwambale says thelocals have been vigilant and helping police in reporting and combating crime, he vows to take action on anyone derailing their efforts of ensuring safety and security of the populace

"I want you to trust us the action is going to be taken against whoever is giving us false information that leads to release of these criminals, I want you to wait for my command, anytime these criminals are going to be rearrested," Bwambale said.

Charles Ichogor , the Arua Resident City Commissioner condemned the act of sabotage and asked his Deputy to apologize

"I would like to ask Ham to apologize before you so that we continue working together and ensure that such mistakes will never happen again."

Sam Wadri Nyakua, the Mayor of Arua City ordered  for the rearrest of the two criminals.

"The DPC should go and arrest those boys, that bind should be canceled and investigations conducted, the they are found guilty, they should be taken to court."

While responding to the accusations Ezama apologized and blamed the parents of the said criminals who misled him.

"The parents of the people came to me and convinced me that they are innocent, that's why I intervened."
