Efforts to advance legislative reforms regarding the rationalisation of government entities hit a snag as Parliament failed to achieve the necessary quorum during a crucial session.

The inability to muster enough members in the House prompted the Speaker to take decisive action, urging all MPs to attend Wednesday's parliamentary sitting to address the pressing issue of quorum and process the pending bills.

Expressing frustration over the setback, the Speaker Anita Among lamented the absence of legislators, emphasizing the importance of their presence in advancing critical legislative agendas.

"The failure to achieve quorum is deeply disappointing and impedes our ability to fulfill our legislative responsibilities," Among said.

In response to the Speaker's directive, the Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua was tasked with providing an explanation for the absenteeism of legislators.

However, MPs attribute their continuous absence to various factors, including political pressures in their constituencies and commitments to committee work.
