Use your guns to remove Pioneer Buses from Namboole, Ogwang to UPDF
Pioneer Easy Bus fleet has been parked at Namboole for nearly 12 years.

The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs has rejected requests from Ministry of Education and Sports to clear the dead Pioneer Easy Buses from National Stadium parking.

The State Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Jacob Oboth-Oboth, says even when UPDF has guns it's removing the parked buses at Namboole is not in the agreement they signed with Ministry of Education and Sports.

The UPDF Engineering Brigade, under Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, is responsible for the rehabilitation of Mandela National Stadium Namboole.

The response from ministry was after the State Minister for Sports, Peter Ogwang, asked the contractor UPDF to haul off all the junk buses parked at Namboole Stadium and have the parking marked.

However, Minister Oboth-Oboth says their responsibility is only limited to the rehabilitation of the stadium, construction of the perimeter wall around the stadium, rehabilitation of the stadium hotel and marking of parking but not to use their guns to empty the parking.

He has now advised the Ministry of Education and Sports to use the necessary laws to have the buses take out of Namboole to ease their work in marking the parking.

Meanwhile, according to Kasambya County MP David Kabanda, there are reports that the Namboole parking was leased to Management of Pioneer Easy Bus by the management of Namboole.

Kabanda has asked Parliament to consider investigating the matter.

Pioneer Easy Bus started transport operations in Kampala over a decade ago. Seeking ample space for parking their fleet of buses that was envisaged to ease public transport, they rented part of the parking.

However, most of the buses parked in Namboole have mechanical problems and are not in use.
