Basil Ajer Named Uganda Investment Authority Acting ED as Kanguhangire refuses to hand over

Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) board of directors has broken into former Executive Director's office Jolly Kaguhangire following the appointment of Basil Ajer as the acting executive director of the authority.

The board resolved to break into the office after suspended Kaguhangire refused to turn up to hand over office following her interdiction on allegations of corruption,tribalism among other charges.

According Dr. Emely Kugonza the board chairman, Basil Ajer will be the acting executive director for the next 3 months as the board continues investigations into the suspended ED.

Before the decision to appoint Ajer, the board held a two hour closed door meeting. After the meeting, the board tried to open Kaguhangire's office and found it closed.

Since Kaguhangire had failed to honour the board's call to handover, a decision was taken to break into the office.

Board chairman Dr.Emely Kugonza explained that, “We talked to her on the issue of handing over office but  to our surprise she hasn’t shown up. We have just called her now only to tell us that she already took her belongings from office”

The board then confirmed the appointent of Basel Ajer formerly the director small and medium enterprises to replace Kaguhangire who was interdicted on Tuesday, 26th June 2018.

Ajer dispelled fears of a divided authority claiming that he had already spoken all employees and promised those without contracts would have them drawn up very soon. He said all the employees are on the same page with the board.
