Victoria University has collaborated with renowned global conservationist, Arturo Islas Allende, to establish the Arturo Islas Allende Environment and Conservation Centre.
This center is poised to become a beacon for promoting Uganda's rich biodiversity and natural beauty.
"The primary role of this centre will be to create and disseminate new knowledge, with a focus on integrating conservation into all aspects of education," emphasized Dr. Lawrence Muganga, the Vice Chancellor of Victoria University.
Uganda, often hailed as the 'Pearl of Africa,' harbors diverse ecosystems and unique natural wonders.
However, the nation grapples with challenges such as habitat degradation and species loss. In response, Victoria University has taken a decisive step to address these concerns through the establishment of this dedicated conservation center.
Dr. Lawrence Muganga, speaking about the initiative, stressed the urgent need for increased sensitization of Ugandans regarding available natural resources and their sustainable use.
"Conserving the environment should be a role of every human being, and this Centre aims to lead the way in promoting that responsibility," asserted Dr. Muganga.
Allende commended Victoria University for joining forces in the fight for mother nature.
He highlighted the pivotal role the center will play in collecting ecological data to analyze trends in biodiversity exploitation and over-exploitation.
"The centre will be instrumental in gathering crucial ecological data, helping us understand and address the pressing issues of biodiversity exploitation," stated Arturo Islas Allende.
This collaborative effort signifies a commitment to integrating conservation principles into education and fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of preserving Uganda's natural heritage.
