l Police in Luwero  have kicked off investigations into circumstances under which a worker was crashed by a sugar manufacturing machine at Victoria Sugar Works .

This factory is located at Ndibulungi village Kakabala parish, Butuntumula subcounty in Luwero district.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the casual laborer identified as Isaac Rwothomiyo was on duty at a Bagasse yard in the suger factory when his fate came in.

Bagasse is commonly used as a fuel in cogeneration to produce steam and generate electricity. In this process, sugar cane bagasse ash (SCBA) remains as the final waste in the sugar production chain.

It is said that the deceased was pushing a heap of begasse into the boiler when the pulley pulled him into the RBS machine which crashed him to death .

Sam Twineamazima, the Savanna regional police spokesperson said that this accident happened because the dangerous RBS machine was open and it lacked safety measures like wire mesh which could have protected the laborer from getting in contact with running machine.

Upon receiving information and scene of crime analysis, Twineamazima revealed that police have opened up a case rash and neglect against the proprietors of the factory.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to Mulago hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
