Meanwhile, Uganda Rhinos were the first side to storm the 2023 Cecafa U15 championship after a 2-1 win over Tanzania in the first semifinal played at the FUFA technical centre in Njeru. Abubakali Walusimbi and Samuel Mubiru were on target for the Ugandan side while Feisal Juma pulled one back for Tanzania.

Uganda will play Zanzibar who beat South Sudan 4-2 in post-match kicks in the other semifinal after a one-all normal time draw.

The final is scheduled for Thursday at the FUFA technical centre in Njeru and Uganda will seek to defend the title they won in 2019 when the championship was last held.

Elsewhere, KCCA FC have named Abdullah Mubiru as their new manager replacing Portuguese Sergio Traguil who left the position last month.

Mubiru, a former KCC player, returns to the Lugogo-based club for the second stint after 2014 and has signed a two-year deal.

The former Police, Proline, Vipers and Uganda Cranes coach is tasked to revive the KCCA FC season after a poor start to the league and early exit from the Caf Confederations Cup.

Despite a sweet 3-1 home win over rivals Vipers on Friday, Kcca is third from the bottom with just 4 points from 7 games.
