Uganda Airlines adds a notch to its belt with India route

Hospitality, comfort of aircrafts , reduced travel hours and convenient pricing are what the Uganda airlines is using as base for selling the four year old revamped airlines.

The airline opened its second international flight to Mumbai on the 7th of October cutting the travel hours by nearly half and saving travellers to India the inconvenience of connecting flights.

The airlines public relations manager Shakira Lamar also promises the airline by next year will have interlines as negotiations are being concluded between Uganda airlines and other fliers like Ethiopian Airlines, Qatar Airways and Emirates among others.

Development of a cargo handling hub at Entebbe is also underway to ensure that the craft Bellies donot go empty but carry goods that will earn the country foreign exchange.

On matters having a hanger for aircraft maintenance, Lamar says the regional jets (Bombardiers) are currently maintained in the country through rented Eagle Air hunger while the airbus is flown to South Africa for any technical maintenance issues that might arise but with plans to have a Ugandan hunger for maintenance awaiting the civil aviation authority's approval of a maintenance organisation.

The airline boasts four Bombardier CRJ - 900s and two airbuses A330-800 neo with prospects of expanding the fleet. The airline also operates two international routes to Dubai and India becoming the fourth major East African carrier to serve Mumbai.

Uganda Airlines also flights to Johannesburg, Kinsasha. Bujumbura,Mombasa, Zanzibar, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Juba, and Mogadishu. Lamar also confirms flights soon that will be enroute to Lagos, Nigeria.
