Uganda Law Society Condemns MP Abiriga Murder, Worries About National Security

Uganda Law Society (ULS) last evening issued a statement expressing concern about Uganda’s deteriorating security.

The statement which was signed off the law society president Simon Peter .M. Kinobe expressed concern over the deteriorating security condition in the country, evidenced by the increasing cases of kidnap, unexplained and unresolved murders of innocent women, and throwing of threatening letters in communities with the intention of creating fear in the population.

The statement which also condemned the assassination of Arua Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Ibrahim Abiriga  who was gunned down on 8 June 2018 at approximately 6:30pm, 100 metres away from his home. The statement described the crime as a heinous act and not only criminal but was also executed with violence and grave disregard for humanity and the rule of law.

The statement further called for action from the security agencies and also noted this rising insecurity a threat to our well being but it will directly affect investment economic growth and threaten the future of this country. The statement further offered assistance if called upon.
