Amb. Stephen Mubiru presents credentials to Germany President

Uganda’s Ambassador to Germany,  Stephen Mubiru, has presented his letter of credence to Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The function which took place at the Bellevue Palace in Berlin was attended by officials from the Uganda Embassy in Berlin as well as the German government.

Both principals agreed to promote the diplomatic relations between the two countries which were established on October, 9, 1962 immediately after Uganda had become an independent state.

The bilateral cooperation which began in 1964, two years after Uganda gained Independence, has seen Germany emerging as one of Uganda’s key development partners focusing mainly on energy, agriculture, water and governance sectors.

Trade between the two countries has been growing through the years with Uganda’s exports to Germany being mainly agriculture products including coffee, tea, vanilla and pepper which have steadily grown whereas imports from Germany include pharmaceutical products, electrical machinery, vehicles, textiles and plastics among others.
