Government has reiterated the need for more funding to deal with a group of disadvantaged Ugandans who are still live below the poverty line.
With the majority of these in hard to reach areas, some have been abandoned, increasing the gap between the rich and poor.
Speaking at a fundraising drive for vulnerable children in Mukono, the minister of State for Works Musa Ecweru, said there is need to extend some interventions to communities like those in Acholi and Karamoja to achieve a better livelihood.
The fundraiser was organised by a group of corporate companies spearheaded by the Uganda Society of Architects (USA).
Dr. Emmanuel Ssinabulya the president Uganda Society of Architects said as professionals, this is one of the ways they give back to society.
"When we heard about children being abandoned and suffering, we were moved to to start this initiative starting with Mukono," Ssinabulya said revealing that they will build a home, business, and teach them hands on skills for their brighter future.
Some of the beneficiaries and caretakers of these children thanked the architects for this cause because they had lost hope in life.
