Brig.Don Nabasa, the commander Special Forces Commander, the army’s elite force mandated with among others guarding the president has asked soldiers to always be ideologically upright on top of being disciplined.
Speaking at a function to pass out a group of soldiers who had completed a six month course in martial arts skills and marksmanship at the Amilcar Cabral Airborne School (ACAS) in Nakasongola, Brig.Nabasa said that for one to successfully conduct military duties, thy must be focused, disciplined and ideologically upright.
"UPDF is charged with the responsibility of protecting the country from any threat. The troops ought to handle missions and tasks in accordance with the requirements of the state as opposed to individual soldiers’ interests,” he noted.
The SFC commander encouraged the soldiers to always take on more courses (trainings) to enable them grow through ranks but warned them against mingling with bad elements, a thing he said would cause them problems.
A total of 389 officers from the Special Forces Command (SFC) were passed out at different SFC training schools after completion of their courses.
Another batch of 249 students on special unit tactics and protection of Very Very Important Persons(VVIPs) course were also passed out after completing training at the Sera Kasenyi Training School in Entebbe at a function conducted by the deputy SFC commander Col.Vincent Ssenfuka.
These were warned against living reckless and disruptive lifestyles but urged to maintain the existing relationship between the defence forces and the army.
