Police Arrest Two Suspects Over Panga Robberies in Mutundwe

Police in Nateete have arrested two suspects linked to a series of panga robberies in Mutundwe, Kampala District, following a swift overnight operation.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, April 10, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., when three men armed with pangas and sticks allegedly established an illegal roadblock at Kweeba Zone in Mutundwe Parish, Rubaga Division.

The suspects reportedly intercepted a boda boda rider who was transporting two passengers, ordered all three individuals to lie down, and began demanding money from them.

Police officers who were on routine patrol in the area responded quickly to the situation, intercepting the suspects at the scene. Two of the suspects were arrested, while one managed to escape.

The arrested individuals have been identified as William Engulu, a 37-year-old private guard, and Paul Mbabazi, aged 21, a resident of Kabaawo Zone.

“Police officers on patrol responded swiftly, intercepted the suspects, and arrested two of them, while one managed to flee the scene,” SP Kawala said.

Authorities have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect, along with any possible accomplices. Investigations into the matter are still underway.
