The Member of Parliament–elect for Bukomansimbi North, Salim Kiseka, has extended support to Muslim communities across the constituency by donating food items and money to help vulnerable families prepare for the upcoming Eid celebrations.
The donations, distributed to more than 30 mosques, included essential food items such as sugar, rice, cooking oil among others. Each mosque also received Shs400,000, while their leaders ( Imams) were given Shs100,000 each to assist them during the festive day.
The distribution exercise officially began at Bukomansimbi Main Mosque, where the items were handed over to the Supreme Khadhi of Bukomansimbi, Sheikh Muhammad Mufti Ssenyondo, who commended the initiative and called on other leaders to support communities, especially during important religious celebrations.
Speaking during the event, Kiseka said the gesture was intended to support Muslims who may not have the means to celebrate Eid comfortably.
He pledged to continue supporting vulnerable members of the community through Sadaka (charitable giving) and other initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents in Bukomansimbi North.
Kiseka also used the occasion to call for unity among Muslims, urging them to handle internal challenges with wisdom and respect.
He advised believers against exposing fellow Muslims who may have made mistakes on social media, saying such actions only create shame and division within the community.
“Instead of embarrassing our fellow Muslims online, we should guide and support them so they can correct their mistakes,” Kiseka said.
The MP–elect further appealed to residents to put aside political differences that emerged during the recent elections and work together for the development of Bukomansimbi District.
He emphasized that progress in the area would require cooperation between leaders and the community, regardless of political affiliation.
Local Muslims welcomed the support, noting that the donations would help many families celebrate Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Community leaders also praised Kiseka’s call for unity and urged residents to embrace peaceful coexistence and collective development initiatives.
