According to police, Natukunda was allegedly killed by her ten-month concubine, identified as Usain Serugo, with whom she had been living in a rented house belonging to Edward Kasozi.

Police say the suspect had repeatedly accused the deceased of cheating on him with other men in the village, resulting in frequent violence and misunderstandings in the relationship.

“Information gathered indicates that the relationship between the two was characterized by violence and mistrust, with the suspect repeatedly accusing the deceased of infidelity,” said SSP Lameck Kigozi, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson.

Investigators revealed that on Tuesday, May 27, 2026, the suspect allegedly confiscated the deceased’s mobile phone before disagreements escalated later in the evening.

“At around 7pm on Idd day, the deceased moved out with her friend identified as Kyosimire Shifrah, leaving the suspect behind at home,” Kigozi explained.

According to witness accounts, the two women later returned to the rented house at around 11:00 pm. Shifrah reportedly left Natukunda knocking at the door before suddenly hearing her scream for help moments later.

“The friend turned back after hearing the deceased yelling that ‘they have killed me.’ She found her lying in a pool of blood and immediately informed the landlord, Mr. Kasozi, who later reported the matter to police,” Kigozi added.

A homicide team led by the Kiboga District CID Officer was dispatched to the scene to commence investigations.

Police documented the scene and introduced a canine unit, which reportedly tracked the suspect’s scent up to the main road before losing trace.

“The body of the deceased was conveyed to Kiboga Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, while statements from witnesses have already been recorded,” Kigozi said.

Police said efforts to apprehend the suspect, who remains on the run, are ongoing.
