The Kabula County legislator is recovering after jumping from a hotel building to evade suspected gunmen, as security agencies launch investigations into the attempted attack that has raised fresh concerns over political safety.

Kabula County MP Enos Asiimwe Kinywamacunda narrowly survived an alleged assassination attempt on March 15, 2026, at a hotel in Lyantonde District.

According to reports, armed assailants targeted the legislator while he was at Court Yard Hotel, forcing him to jump from the third floor in a desperate attempt to escape. He sustained injuries during the fall.

His brother, Moses Kamama Kinywamacunda, said the MP is currently receiving medical care for wounds sustained in the incident.
