Old Tymerz Ntinda came alive last Friday, April 24, as Gilbey’s introduced its new experiential activation, Gilbey’s Hangouts, an in-bar concept designed to promote real conversations, connection, and shared social experiences.
The debut event, hosted at Old Tymerz Ntinda, marked the launch of a series under the “Made for Real Moments” campaign, which seeks to encourage people to engage more meaningfully away from digital distractions.
In a social environment increasingly defined by filtered online interactions and fast-paced communication, organisers said the initiative aims to revive face-to-face conversations and unstructured social bonding.
Guests were served crafted Gilbey’s cocktails in two signature flavours, an orange-infused blend and a lime-based option, setting a relaxed tone for the evening.
The drinks accompanied informal group conversations that unfolded across the venue in a laid-back atmosphere.
The event was hosted by media personality Ronnie Mcvex and featured interactive segments that encouraged guests to share personal experiences openly, rather than participate in formal programming. Discussions centred on relationships, investment, career growth, and everyday life challenges.
As the night progressed, conversations deepened, reflecting issues commonly faced by young professionals and millennials.
Some participants discussed the balance between financial stability and emotional connection in relationships, highlighting differing perspectives on modern dating and partnership dynamics.
The atmosphere was further shaped by a curated playlist of 80s, 90s and early 2000s music played by in-house DJs, which resonated with the predominantly millennial audience and reinforced the nostalgic tone of the evening.
Speaking at the launch, Gilbey’s Brand Manager Raymond Karama said the initiative is intended to create environments where people can disconnect from routine pressures and reconnect through meaningful interaction.
“Gilbey’s Hangouts is about creating a setting where people can step away from the noise of routine life, meet without pressure or pretense, and enjoy genuine interactions that grow naturally over drinks and music,” he said.
He added that the campaign is designed to make social spaces more intentional, helping people turn ordinary outings into memorable shared experiences.
Gilbey’s Hangouts is expected to continue rolling out across selected venues on Fridays as part of the broader campaign.
