Kabaka Ronald Mutebi on Tuesday made a solemn visit to St Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe, in a significant spiritual engagement during the sacred Lenten season.
The visit came after the Kabaka’s earlier appearance at Katwe Market, where he consoled traders who had lost goods in the Nabambulira fire that erupted two nights ago.
The blaze, which affected the market on land traditionally under the Kabaka’s jurisdiction, destroyed merchandise worth millions of shillings, including cultural and traditional items.
Arriving quietly and without prior public announcement, the Kabaka underscored the personal and reflective nature of his pilgrimage.
He was warmly received by the Dean, The Very Rev Canon Dunstan Kiwanuka Mazinga, and members of the cathedral leadership.
In a gesture of devotion, the Dean escorted the Kabaka to Hannington Chapel, a sacred space for quiet prayer and reflection.
The Kabaka spent about ten minutes in private contemplation, marking a profound moment of spiritual connection during Lent.
After the private session, the Kabaka was formally welcomed and introduced to key members of the cathedral clergy and administration.
Present were Vicar Rev Henry James Lukyamuzi, Assistant Vicar Rev Gerald Ssennabulya, Diocesan Mission Secretary Rev Stephen Lumu Lwasi, Rev Samuel Mulumba Mugabi, and Mr Samson Kisekka, among others.
Clergy and staff expressed deep honor at the Kabaka’s visit, noting its significance for both the Church and the broader community of believers observing the Lenten period.
