“We must join hands in the fight against corruption because it greatly affects service delivery and denies our people the services they deserve,” Mayanja said.

He reminded councillors that leadership is primarily about serving the interests of the people rather than pursuing personal gain.

According to Mayanja, elected leaders should remain committed to fulfilling the promises they made to voters during the campaign period and focus on improving the welfare of communities.

“You were elected to represent the people and serve them diligently. Leadership should go beyond self-interest and focus on improving the welfare of our communities,” he added.

The swearing-in ceremony also ushered in a new district council expected to deliberate on key development priorities and strengthen service delivery across Ibanda District during the new political term.
