Six-Year-Old Recovered After Kidnapping in Kawempe
Joint security agencies have successfully rescued six-year-old Mpirwe Tumwesigye, reportedly abducted by a family employee in Kampala, following a week-long search aided by social media analysis.

 

The Kampala Metropolitan Police have confirmed the recovery of six-year-old Mpirwe Tumwesigye, who was allegedly kidnapped on 12 December 2025 by a shamba boy.

Police spokesperson Kawala Rachael said the child was taken from Kawempe Division and recovered from Busukuma, Nansana municipality in Wakiso District on 19 December 2025 at around 7:30 pm.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that on December 12 at around 4pm in Ddungu Zone, Kawempe Division, David Muchunguzi, employed as a shamba boy by Dr Emmanuel Tumwesigye, left with the victim, Mpirwe Tumwesigye Abraham, to an unknown destination and failed to return,” Kawala said.

A case of kidnapping was immediately reported at Universal Police Post, prompting search operations. Kawala noted that analysis of the suspect’s TikTok videos helped security agencies trace and recover the child.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect. “The child will be handed over to his parents after undergoing a medical examination,” Kawala added.
