Body falls off Kenya Airways aircraft in London, lands in garden

A body fell off the landing gear of one of Kenya Airways aircrafts moments before the flight landed in London, Kenya Airways has confirmed.

According to a press statement released by Kenya Airways, at approximately 15:41 hrs (UK Time) on June 30, a body of a yet to be identified male stowaway landed in a garden in the Borough of Lambeth, South London moments before the aircraft landed in London Heathrow Airport.

Kenya Airways has suggested that the body could have been hidden in the undercarriage of the aircraft.

The owner of the garden called the police who tracked the flight radar to KQ flight 100 and on inspecting the aircraft, Police discovered a bag containing food and clothing at the left landing gear.

The body had no identification and the incident was treated as a sudden death and now a Police matter.

By press time, The Police was already in contact with the Kenya High Commission to help identify and name the person.

The aircraft was inspected and cleared for operation, as no damage was reported.

According to Kenya Airways, the 6,840km flight takes 8hrs and 50 mins.

Kenya airways confirmed the incident and said that they are working closely with authorities in both Nairobi and London to fully investigate the case.

"It is unfortunate that a person has lost his life by stowing aboard one of our aircraft and we express our condolences. Kenya Airways is working closely with relevant authorities in Kenya and Nairobi as they fully investigate the case," A statement from Kenya Airways reads in part.
