“I urge you to adopt the available modern technologies in your work. These will help you improve your businesses and uplift your standards of living,” Buzeki said.

She noted that many Imams face financial hardships due to the lack of stable sources of income, which affects their ability to sustain themselves and their families.

The support initiative was organized by the Structured Imams and Amirat Assembly of Uganda, led by Sheikh Said Kasawuli, to empower Muslim leaders economically and socially.

Before the launch, Buzeki toured the organization’s offices and training centres where Imams and Amirat are equipped with practical skills aimed at helping them overcome poverty.

She also emphasized the importance of unity within the Muslim community, saying it is a core value in Islam.

“Islam teaches unity, and I encourage you to continue working together for the development of your community,” she added.

During the event, Sheikh Said Kasawuli narrated the progress made by the organization as well as the challenges still facing Muslim leaders.

He appealed to KCCA to strengthen its collaboration with Muslim institutions.

“We have made some progress in empowering Imams and their families, but we still face challenges. We call upon KCCA to work with us so that we can improve the welfare of our people,” Kasawuli said.

Buzeki commended the leadership of the assembly, particularly its efforts to equip Imams and their spouses with vocational skills.

“The initiative to train Imams and their wives in practical skills is very important. It will go a long way in improving their livelihoods and promoting development,” she noted.

The ceremony concluded with the official launch of the items to be distributed, with beneficiaries expressing gratitude to Sheikh Kasawuli for his continued support towards the Muslim community.
