Bulambuli on the run after molesting own child to death
Police in the Elgon district of Bulambuli are on the hunt for a couple who allegedly beat up their 11-year-old child to death.
The incident occurred on July 13 at around 4pm.
According to police reports, Wecilif Ebusulu, a pupil of Kikobero Primary School, had refused to wash plates when instructed by his parents on July 12.
Instead of complying, Ebusulu ran away and slept outside. When he returned home the following day, his father, Robert Omoit, reportedly grabbed and started beating him.
His mother Juliet Nakaima joined in the molesting.
After the beating, Ebusulu became weak as his condition worsened. Nakaima rushed him to Peter's Clinic in Buyaga Town Council, but the boy died shortly after arrival.
Police said following this, both parents disappeared, leaving the community in shock.
The incident was reported by Michael Webale, the chairman of LC1 of Sibanga Cell, Market Ward, Buyaga Town Council.
"I have never witnessed such a heartbreaking event in our community," said Webale. "We are all devastated by the loss of this young life."
Police have taken Ebusulu's body to Bulambuli Health Centre IV for further examination.
Authorities have launched an intensive search for Omoit and Nakaima, both aged 38.
The police have urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward.
"This is a heinous crime, and we are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice," said a police spokesperson. "We encourage anyone with information to report to the nearest police station."
As inquiries continue, the police remain hopeful that the suspects will be apprehended soon to face justice for their alleged crime.
In June, a pupil of Kabujani Primary School in Mbale City passed on after corporal punishment by a teacher.
