Two arrested in Kalaki cattle theft investigation
Police in Kalaki have arrested two suspects as part of investigations into cattle theft that occurred on July 8, 2024, at around 5am in Awidi village, Kadie parish, Otuboi Aub-county.
According to the police, a bull was stolen, and the suspects fled in a vehicle, registration number UAQ 787G, a black RAV 4.
The police was informed and with help of locals pursued the vehicle and intercepted it, but the occupants escaped.
However, with the help of local leaders and the community, two suspects, Byaruhanga John and Opar George, were rearrested and taken to Kalaki Police Station.
Edison Obukulem, the acting East Kyoga Police spokesperson, said suspects have been charged with stealing cattle, vide CRB 158/2024.
The police are still investigating, and the public will be updated on any new developments.
The police have commended the local leaders and community for their support in apprehending the suspects.
The incident highlights the ongoing efforts of the police to combat cattle theft in the region.
This follow an out cry by public over the rampant theft of cattle especially domestic animal but those believe to be coordinated.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
