Ritual sacrifice survivors to undergo genital reconstruction in Australia
Jesse and his family prepare to depart for Australia

Two boys who survived the wrath of ritual killers have been flown to Australia for medical treatment.

Jesse, 7, and George, 18, (second named withheld), survived death after being attacked by witchdoctors who cut some of their body parts, leaving them nearly lifeless.

Peter Ssewakiryanga, the director of Kyampisi Child Care Ministries that came to the rescue of the victims, said they learnt about the two from police reports.

“We received Jesse in 2020. He had grave wounds sustained in an attack by a suspected witch doctor who cut off his hand, private parts and also stabbed him in the neck, putting him in the drum where he was left for dead,” Ssewakiryanga disclosed.

Ssewakiryanga says that Jesse, then aged three, was rushed to the hospital for further medication with alarming wounds at his neck, hand and his private parts, due to harm inflicted on him by witch doctor.

He said upon ascertaining the boy's deteriorated life, urgent medical attention was accorded to him, as they collaborated with the police in the investigations to hold perpetrators accountable for their dubious actions.

"Currently, the case is before the high court," Ssewakiryanga added.

Records show that George was attacked in 2009 in Namayingo District by a witchdoctor who completely mutilated his genitals, leaving him nearly lifeless in the bush.

“George is now 18 years old, he came to our care when he was four. He sustained several grave wounds from his attackers who also chopped off his penis and testicles," he said.

"We needed to find a surgeon who can do genital reconstruction and there we took him to Australia where he was given practical penises in the surgery.”

Ssewakiryanga added that health consultants recommended that George gets intensified surgery abroad by a team of experts to re-align his damaged organs in order to have him return to normal situation.

"After reaching puberty, it requires medical consultants to reposition his male organs so that he is able to perform body functions normally such as urinating and other life easing mechanism," he noted.

Ssewakiryanga hopes that the victims will be fixed for life and also live a normal life though George will never involve in sexual activities after his testicles were cut off.

According to Ssewakiryanga, the victims are consulting with Dr David Winkle, a specialist in operating the genital organs.

Yekosi Musujja, the Kyampisi Child Care Ministries case management officer, said the cases were not so easy in tracking the files but working closely with the police and the DPPs office helped them.

He added that they hope that after the cases, it will make a big lesson to other witch doctors who are practicing child sacrifices and also child trafficking.
