I will never step on stage to sing in Uganda again- says Kenzo

Singer Eddy Kenzo has said he will never step foot on a Ugandan stage to sing not until Sheikh Nuhu Muzaate Batte has retracted statements he made against him.

The vocal Kibuli Muslim faction spokesperson is alleged to have accused Kenzo of ignoring fellow singer Rema Namakula with whom they were in a relationship prompting her to get married to new lover Hamza Ssebunya, a medical doctor at Mulago hospital.

“I apologise to everyone affected by the ongoing saga but I didn’t mean it. I am tortured by Muzaata’s words and I don’t know how I can get onto the stage to sing for my Ugandan followers,”Kenzo said.

“He should come out to clear the air about what he labelled me. I won’t get onto the stage to sing in Uganda until Muzaata retracts his statements towards me.”

Since rumours about the love affair between Rema Namakula and his new lover Hamza Ssebunya started circulating, it has not been rosy for Kenzo who has been mocked by many for ignoring her lover, prompting her to hook a new catch.

Last Saturday, social media was awash with photos of Rema with her new lover as the two held a private visiting (kukyaala) to Namakula’s parents and this didn’t go well with Kenzo.

Speaking at the function, the motor -mouthed Muzaata stung Kenzo for taking Rema for granted and by the time he woke up, she had been taken by Ssebunya.

Responding to Muzaata’s claims, Kenzo said since he started his singing career, he has been mocked by many, a thing he said keeps torturing him.

“I have always been mocked by many people since I started my singing career that I am uneducated and that I don’t know English.I have done a lot in my music career but many still claim am just lucky but all this  has tortured me a lot.”

“When someone talks about my mother I feel bad. My children are 8 and 5 years. I feel an embarrassment. Being a religious leader should not blame me for anything.”

The ‘Sitya loss’ singer took a swipe at Muzaata, a religious leader for ignoring the fact that he(Kenzo) was officially wedded in a religious function with Rema Namakula.

“Unless he is blaming me for not doing the traditional wedding or introduction but for a religious one, the function was done long ago. I am tortured by Muzaata’s words. I have made the decision without being forced that I will never sing on a Ugandan stage until my death unless he retracts his statement,”Kenzo vowed.
