BREAKING: Moses Magogo admits selling World Cup tickets; fined Shs37M

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), has suspended the Federation of Uganda's Football Association (FUFA) president, Eng. Moses Magogo from taking part in any football-related activities for a period of two months after he confessed to selling World Cup tickets.

A particular number of tickets is allocated to each federation prior to the World Cup and in 2014, Uganda was allocated 177 but these were allegedly not sold to Ugandans as is supposed according to a complaint lodged by Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana who is also the Katwe United Football Club chairman to FIFA.

On Thursday, the world football governing body in a press statement said  Magogo entered a plea bargain with the chairperson of the investigating committee.

According to Wikipedia, a plea bargain is an agreement in a criminal case between the prosecutor and defendant whereby the defendant agrees to plead guilty to a particular charge in return for some concession from the prosecutor.

In this case, the defendant receives a lesser punishment.

"An investigation into Magogo was opened on 23 July 2018 related to the resale of 2014 FIFA World Cup tickets. In accordance with article 67 part 1 of the FIFA Code of Ethics, the parties have mutually agreed a two-month suspension from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level,"FIFA said in a statement.

The suspension comes a fine of CHF 10,000 which is equivalent to shs37 million.

"The punishments became effective upon validation of the agreement by the chairman of the adjudicatory chamber on 10, October ,2019."

Last month, Magogo stepped aside to allow for the FIFA investigations to continue.
