A section of legislators want government to liaise with the family of the former President of Uganda Idi Amin Ddada to have his remains transferred back to his ancestral home in Koboko for a decent burial.
The plea came last week as Ugandans mourned 16 years since Amin died in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. He was buried there.
Amin was born on the 17th of May 1925 in the current Koboko district and died on the 16th of August 2003.
He ruled Uganda between January 1971 up to 1979 when he was forcefully toppled before seeking exile in Libya and then Saudi Arabia where he passed on.
Some legislators commended the contribution of the former president who supported the development of technology in the country.
Some said that as a leader, he fought corruption and eased Muslim’s pilgrimage to Mecca.
