Kampala Central MP Mohammed Nsereko has rubbished reports that he visited the home of fellow MP, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine seeking political favours.
Last month, social media was awash with reports that Muhammad Nsereko visited the Kyadondo East legislator at his residence in Magere on orders of President Museveni.
The reports further claimed that Muhammad Nsereko, while at Magere told Robert Kyagulanyi that the President wants to give him(Kyagulanyi) money so that he drops his 2021 Presidential ambitions and rather wait for 2026. An angry Kyagulanyi, according to the same report refused Muhammad Nsereko's offer and ordered him out of his premises.
But in an interview with NBS TV, Nsereko said that he has never been at Kyagulanyi's residence and doesn't plan to do so at any time in the near. future.
" I've never stepped into the residence of Mr. Kyagulanyi and I don't intend to do that in anyway because what is there to discuss? I am not his relative neither am I looking for a political favour," Nsereko said.
Nsereko asked Kyagulanyi to come out and clear the air about these rumours saying that the genocide in Rwanda and Germany was sparked off by mere allegations like this one.
He said that as a leader, Kyagulanyi owes the people a duty of care and responsibility to come out and call out what is wrong.
"Genocide in Rwanda were mere statements of people or even in Germany. Therefore we as leaders, we owe our people a duty of care and responsibility to come out and say, wrong is wrong and right is right," Nsereko added.
The spokesperson of the People Power movement, Joel Ssenyonyi, said they have no time to respond to everything as they need to remain focused on the major issues.
He said; " We are not going to respond to every Tom, Dick and Harry. When I took up this position, I said that I will major on majors and minor on minors. Things like these are minors, we don't want to waste time on them," Ssenyonyi said.
Muhammed Nsereko went on his Facebook page and shared a screenshot of his conversation with Robert Kyagulanyi which showed that he reached out to him asking him to come out and refute the reports.
According to the screenshot, Kyagulanyi told him that such allegations are only aimed to divide them and he didn't see any reason as to why he should respond to them.
