Western Uganda music star Ray G has been confirmed as the headline performer for the Tusker Lite Neon Raves finale scheduled for May 17 at Password Lounge.
Popularly known as the “King of the West,” Ray G joins the Neon Raves campaign at a time when he is enjoying one of the strongest runs of his career following successful concerts in Mbarara and Kampala that further cemented his reputation as one of Uganda’s leading live performers.
In November 2025, the singer, born Reagan Muhairwe, drew a crowd of more than 20,000 fans at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara, where revelers sang along to some of his popular songs including Omusheshe, Eizooba and Yoya.
The concert was widely seen as a demonstration of his growing influence within Uganda’s music industry.
Ray G has built his musical identity around a blend of Afro-pop and Runyankole heritage music, a style that has earned him a loyal fan base beyond Western Uganda.
He first rose to prominence with songs such as Amarari before releasing other hits including Weeshe, Rukundo and Yele.
His latest release, Jubilate, has also continued to gain traction online, reportedly attracting more than 35,000 YouTube views within its first 24 hours.
Over the years, Ray G has received several accolades, including Best Western Act at the HiPipo Music Awards, where Omusheshe was also recognized.
He has additionally been honoured at the Janzi Awards for his contribution to music in Western Uganda.
The Gulu edition of the Tusker Lite Neon Raves will also feature dance crews from across Northern Uganda, including Visually Impaired Gang, Kingdom Dancers, Titan Dance Family and Pearl 211 Dance Crew, all competing for a place in the national finale.
The Neon Raves campaign, which has already held editions in Hoima, Masaka, Mbarara and Arua, combines dance competitions, nightlife and live music performances aimed at celebrating youth culture.
Speaking ahead of the event, Tusker Lite Brand Manager Sandra Againe said bringing Ray G to Gulu was intended to elevate the experience for fans.
“Bringing Ray G to Gulu is about giving fans an experience that matches the scale of Neon Raves. He is an artist who understands crowd energy and performance, and we know his presence will elevate the entire night. Gulu is ready for something unforgettable,” she said.
For many fans, the May 17 finale is expected to offer more than just dance battles under neon lights, with anticipation continuing to grow around Ray G’s performance in Northern Uganda.
