“...Sembera Maama.... Yanguwa Lola...” lovebirds at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel gardens chorused as they joined the rest of the world in celebrating Cupid’s Day. Known for his timeless love ballads, singer Geosteady Blackman’s melodic voice set the mood for what became the biggest Valentine’s Day concert in the country, powered by V&A, Uganda’s Favourite Sherry.
By 5 pm, couples were already walking hand in hand, capturing memories at V&A’s photobooth, and securing the best spots, especially the coveted front row seats, as they awaited a star-studded line-up featuring Juliana Kanyomozi, Mariam Ndagire, Irene Ntale, Lydia Jasmine, Fik Fameica, Fefe Busi, among others.
Throughout the evening, V&A ensured that every love ballad was paired with a perfect serve of the liqueur, both in its neat and Vangria forms, escorting the melodies and soundtracks of love from the artists on stage.
“Valentine’s Day is a celebration of the love that is shared amongst ourselves. As V&A, we partnered with Geosteady, a musician whose music is renowned for special intimate moments, to give our consumers a unique Cupid’s Day experience,” said Rochart Kaweesa, the Brand Manager for V&A.
“Today, we celebrated love with our consumers in moments that are special to them,” he added.
When Geosteady finally took to the stage, the crowd transformed into one giant choir, lip syncing to his hit songs such as Sembera, Same Way, Soulmate, and Nze Naawe, among others.
In one of the night’s most emotional highlights, a gentleman walked onto the stage and proposed to the sherry of his life. The moment froze the crowd with emotion, drawing cheers, ululations, and loud ‘awws’ as it was sealed with a V&A bouquet and the prize of a trip, while content creators snapped away to capture the unforgettable scene.
As the night came to a close, revelers left exhausted in the best way possible, with love celebrated, memories made, friendships rekindled, and Geosteady’s melodies likely to linger in their minds long after.
The Sherry Liqueur made sure everyone was met where they were, and for those who preferred a different kind of celebration, V&A also hosted Valentine’s experiences in various bars and spots around the country. Love was shared at venues such as Afro Bar in Kasangati, Lite Cottages in Mbarara, and Drizzles Lounge in Bunga, among others.
