“This is one of the hardest moments of his life,” a close associate of the artist said. “His mother wasn’t just family. She was his backbone. She believed in him before the fame, before the money, before the applause.”

Fik Fameica has frequently spoken about the central role his mother played in his journey from Kampala’s Kawempe neighbourhood to becoming one of Uganda’s most influential contemporary artists.

She was often seen at his concerts and major career milestones, celebrating his achievements away from the spotlight.

“She never liked attention, but she was always present,” said a fellow musician who has attended several events with the rapper. “You could see how much her presence meant to him.”

Following news of her death, tributes have poured in from fellow musicians, producers and fans, many describing her as a strong and supportive parent who raised one of the country’s leading music stars.

“This is bigger than music,” one fan wrote online. “It’s about a son losing the person who gave him strength.”

Fik Fameica, known for hit songs including Pistol, Salawo and Batuwulira, had by the time of publication not issued an official public statement. Family members are expected to communicate funeral and burial arrangements in the coming days.

As condolences continue to flow, the loss has served as a reminder of the personal stories behind public success, and the quiet sacrifices that often shape celebrated careers.
