The founder of Ebonies drama actors, Mr. Sam Bagenda, popularly known as Dr. Bbosa, has called on parents to encourage their children to participate in music, dance, and drama as a way of nurturing talent among young people.
He made the appeal while officiating Mbuye Parents’ School’s annual Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) production at the International University of East Africa in Kansanga. The event drew parents, educators, and invited guests who enjoyed poetry, drama, multicultural dances, and live music performances.
A highlight of the event was the school’s brass band, trained entirely in-house, reflecting the school’s growing investment in talent development.
Learners also presented a variety of plays exploring themes of leadership, humility, morality, and spirituality, demonstrating both creativity and strong storytelling skills.
The cultural dance segment showcased the school’s commitment to diversity, featuring Ugandan traditional dances, including Kiganda, Acholi, and Kigezi, alongside Scottish, Indian, and Kinyarwanda performances.
Dr. Bbosa also encouraged learners to balance academics with music and drama to build a well-rounded future.
The school’s Headteacher, Mr. Moses Isiko, noted that the talents displayed reflect the institution’s philosophy of nurturing the whole child.
He emphasised that the school provides a holistic education that develops cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills.
Beyond the arts, the school has also excelled academically. Learners participated in the National Mathematics Contests, with one selected to represent Uganda at the International Mathematics Olympiad in Shanghai, China, under the STEAM program (Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Art, and Mathematics). The school has also been recognised for excellence in innovation, creativity, and language proficiency.
The MDD festival highlighted the school’s dedication to producing eloquent, well-rounded learners prepared to excel in both creative and academic pursuits.
