Tanqueray Brings Sustainable Vision to Life at King Charles’ Climate-Focused Birthday Celebration

By | November 16, 2025

Tanqueray played a central role in bringing a sustainability-focused theme to life during the 77th birthday celebration of King Charles III, an event held last Thursday and reflecting the monarch’s long-standing commitment to environmental protection and climate action.

The reception, hosted by British High Commissioner Lisa Chesney MBE, celebrated nature, climate awareness, and the continued partnership between the United Kingdom and Uganda.

This year’s event spotlighted climate and nature, reinforcing the UK’s collaboration with Uganda on environmental protection, climate resilience and green growth.

As part of this theme, Tanqueray showcased its sustainability efforts through a partnership with Good Glass, a Ugandan creative enterprise that upcycles empty Tanqueray bottles into artistic and functional household items—such as wine glasses, candle holders, jewellery, and decorative lamps—offering guests a tangible experience of circular innovation.

Nancy Nansikombi, the Tanqueray brand manager, underscored the significance of the brand’s participation.
“We are glad to be here for this premium experience that is not only celebratory but also conscious, aligning our brand with the values of the Crown and the future of our planet. Our ongoing partnership with Good Glass, who are exhibiting here, is a simple and tangible way to show how we can enjoy luxury while being mindful of our carbon footprint,” she said.

The climate-conscious theme continued through an elegant exhibition of photographs from the Natural History Museum’s 2025 Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, displayed alongside striking images by Ugandan wildlife photographers. Guests were also invited to sign a symbolic “Commitment Tree,” pledging personal support for the protection and conservation of nature.

Throughout the garden, Tanqueray cocktail bars served a range of nature-inspired botanical drinks. Guests enjoyed creatively crafted cocktails such as the “Evergreen,” “Regal Ember,” “Bloom Tide,” and “Skyward,” each echoing elements of the natural world and complementing the evening’s culinary offerings.

As attendees toasted the King’s birthday, Tanqueray’s presence highlighted how sustainability can be both elegant and practical—demonstrating that conscious choices can seamlessly integrate into premium experiences.

The celebration brought together business leaders, Ugandan government ministers, senior officials, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society, and friends of the UK.

In an evening honouring a King whose passion for the environment is widely recognised, Tanqueray stood out as a brand blending its royal heritage as a Royal Warrant Holder with a forward-looking commitment to sustainability.
