The prestigious event was also attended by the cream of Uganda’s film industry as well as Nigerian superstars Osita Iheme, Chris Odeh, Ramsey Nouah, Uche Ateli and Nancy Isime.

Nabimanya is in Nigeria on a benchmarking tour of several studios and meeting various players in the country’s film industry - which is Africa’s biggest and one of the world’s fastest growing creative industries.

In one of the posts shared on Instagram, Nabimanya said, “The level of innovation and disruptive thinking I’m seeing in Nigeria’s film ecosystem is mind-blowing and explains why it’s one of the fastest growing creative industries in the world.”

“Uganda has such beautiful stories to tell, and my vision is to emulate the Nigerian willingness to think outside the box and take risks. That’s what’s going to get our stories to a global audience and get our creatives sufficiently paid.”

Part of the engagements around the iKon Awards are a series of masterclasses where young and upcoming filmmakers receive instruction from professionals on several topics like scriptwriting, directing, production and so on.

It will be a valuable experience for promising young players in the industry to benefit from Mama G’s years of experience.
