The Attorney General of the Buganda Kingdom, Christopher Bwanika, has emphasized that the commitment of teachers plays a decisive role in shaping students’ success and the overall benefit they derive from school.
Speaking while officiating at the release of Senior Four examination results at Stena Hill Secondary School, located in Lukuli–Makindye, on Wednesday, Bwanika underscored the critical role teachers play not only in academic success but also in building responsible citizens.
“The commitment of teachers greatly determines how much students benefit from the time they spend at school. When teachers dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to their learners, students grow into valuable citizens who contribute meaningfully to the nation. But when they neglect them, the country loses potentially productive members of society,” he said.
He stressed that education should not only focus on passing examinations but also on nurturing disciplined, skilled, and responsible individuals who can positively impact Uganda’s future.
Bwanika commended the students of Stena Hill Secondary School for their impressive performance in the Senior Four examinations, attributing the success to the dedication and care demonstrated by the school’s teaching staff.
“I am pleased with the excellent results achieved by the candidates. This success is a clear reflection of the teachers’ commitment and the support they have given their students,” he said.
He extended appreciation to the school’s administration and teaching staff for prioritizing students’ academic progress and personal development.
Addressing the candidates, Bwanika urged them not to end their academic journey at Senior Four but to strive for higher levels of education.
“Do not stop at this level. Aim higher—advance to Senior Five or enroll in vocational institutions to acquire practical skills that will secure your future,” he said.
Bwanika also appealed to parents to make sacrifices, despite the prevailing economic challenges, to ensure their children continue with their education.
“Parents must do everything within their means to support their children’s education, whether in advanced secondary school or vocational training, so that they can gain the expertise needed to thrive,” he said.
