This year, Mengo celebrates a remarkable milestone, 130 years since it opened its doors for its first lessons. What began as a story of literal and arithmetic basics is now a grand old tale about a kiln of minds and characters.
The transformation that propelled Mengo to the top of the academic rankings year after year, started some years ago after relative stability was achieved in the nation.
Mengo is ahead of the curve when it comes to embracing new technologies and innovations. The school rolled out biometric machines to record daily attendance almost a decade ago and has been carrying out E-voting of its student leaders for several years.
The school compound has multiple Wi-Fi hot spots that ensure access to academic content anywhere in the school. Most classes also have access to smart screens as well as having a fully functional E-library. This library supplements the content from the teachers during lessons.
Despite its enormous student population, the school also has a robust Quality Assurance department whose only purpose is to ensure that every single operation within the institution is of the highest standard.
That, together with the strong Christian values on which the school stands, has helped it to brave the waves.
