UBTEB registers 114,954 candidates to sit for Nov/ Dec 2024 exams

Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) has announced the successful registration  of 114,954 candidates to sit for the Nov/Dec 2024 examinations.

The examinations that started with briefing yesterday, November 22 will end on December, 20 at  663 examination centres.

According to UBTEB Executive Secretary, Onesmus Oyesigye, of these candidates, 43,890 are female and 71,064 are male.

“As part of enhancing inclusive education, the board has registered a total of 173 candidates with special needs pursuing various TVET professions in the categories of  Dyslexia (34), Visual impairment (43), hearing impairment (31), and Physical disability (65),” Oyesigye said.

“ The special needs candidates will be accorded support to sit for the examination arrangements, such as sign language interpreters, transcribers, and guides.  The rest will be given extra time and large fonts.”

He said UBTEB  has accordingly deployed over 100 support personnel to assist candidates with special needs

Oyesigye said today,  the Board conducted briefing of 470 Reconnoiters responsible for ensuring smooth conduct of the first phase examinations at respective Examinations centres across the country.

“The board will also deploy 2,742 practical assessors and verifiers to conduct on-the-spot practical assessments of candidates. This is aimed at ensuring adherence to Board’s rules on the conduct of examinations,” the UBTEB Executive Secretary said.

He noted that they have started dispatching examinations to the designated safe storage facilities across the country with the help of the Uganda Police Force.

“We appeal to heads of centres to highlight the penalties for examination malpractices during the briefing of candidates and the period of conducting examinations.”
