Police in Matugga are investigating circumstances surrounding the death  of a 17-year-old male milk vendor.

The deceased, only identified as Austine, a resident of Nalusugga Village, Kasangati Town Council in Wakiso District had been missing for hours, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala.

“According to preliminary reports, the deceased was a milk hawker operating within Buwambo Trading Centre. On 9 May 2026, he reportedly left home for work as usual but did not return,” Kawala said.

She said the deceased’s body was later discovered in a building under construction near Flourish Day Care and Nursery School in Najjo Zone, Kanywamusulo Cell, Gombe Division, Wakiso District.

Kawala said the  police canine unit was introduced at the scene, and the sniffer dog reportedly traced a scent leading into Flourish Day Care and Junior School.

“The dog allegedly entered one of the classrooms where the school askari is said to sleep and sat down before proceeding towards the Buwambo–Katadde main road, where the trail ended,” he noted.

According to police, exhibits suspected to contain bloodstains were recovered from the baby class as well as from a Primary Two classroom while the headteacher of the school has since been arrested to aid in police investigations.

“Efforts are underway to arrest additional suspects and establish the motive behind the killing,” she said.
