Police in Soroti District have made significant progress in investigations into the aggravated robbery and fatal shooting of Patricia Kokunda, with four suspects now in custody.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, April 3, 2026, saw the victim attacked, robbed, and shot dead at Teso Coach Park along Station Road near Goalman Supermarket in Soroti City.
The attack took place at approximately 04:40 am, prompting an immediate response and subsequent investigations by police and sister security agencies.
Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed that two suspects—Alex Okello and Felix Onego—were arrested on the same day as the incident.
Investigations later led to the arrest of a third suspect, Simon Epeu, also known as Iboda, in Anyara, Kalaki District, where authorities recovered Shs 7,000,000 believed to be linked to the crime.
In a further breakthrough on Saturday, April 6, 2026, police apprehended the suspected shooter, Alfred Elacu, in Orungo, Amuria District.
The victim’s smartphone has also since been recovered after being found discarded in a bush in Kichinjani.
Despite these developments, police say investigations are still ongoing, with efforts focused on recovering additional key exhibits.
“We have intensified our inquiries and operations to ensure all those involved are brought to justice,” Rusoke said.
Authorities have reassured the public that more updates will be shared as the investigation continues to unfold.
