Joint security teams comprising the police and the army have successfully disrupted several criminal cells operating within Pece Prisons Cell, Kyenjere, and surrounding areas following a well-coordinated operation conducted on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
During the operation, a number of suspects linked to organised criminal activities were arrested. The suspects are currently being held at the Gulu City East Policing Division.
Those in custody include Desmon Ochola, Emma Okot, and another individual identified only by the nickname "24". Security agencies have confirmed that efforts to apprehend additional suspects who remain at large are ongoing.
According to the Regional Police Spokesperson for Aswa-Gulu, David Ongom Mudong, the operation also led to the recovery of several items believed to be of evidential value. These include 10 rounds of ammunition, one pair of police uniforms, bunches of keys, four pangas, four knives, housebreaking implements, four large padlocks, mattresses, and two television sets.
“This operation demonstrates our continued commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of our communities,” said Mudong.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining public safety and security and have called on members of the community to cooperate with law enforcement by providing any information that could assist in the arrest of the remaining suspects.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
