Police in Kampala have arrested a man in connection with an attempted robbery in Kibumbiro Zone, Busega Parish, Lubaga Division.
Alex Mwanda, 30, a boda boda rider from Nabbingo Zone, Wakiso District, was apprehended after the incident, according to Police Spokesperson Racheal Kawala.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that on March 25, 2026 at around 03:00hrs, the suspect hired a boda boda from Nansana to Kibumbiro. Two other suspects, still at large, followed on another motorcycle. They diverted off the main road, blocked the rider, and threatened him with a panga in an attempt to steal his motorcycle,” Kawala said.
The victim raised an alarm, which drew members of the public. Police officers on foot patrol quickly responded and arrested Mwanda Alex, who was found in possession of the panga.
The other suspects managed to flee.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects,” Sp Kawala added, urging anyone with information to report to the nearest police station.
The incident highlights continued vigilance by both the public and police in preventing criminal activities in Kampala.
