Metropolitan Police Arrest Over 100 Suspects in Coordinated Crime Crackdown
The Kampala Metropolitan Police, working with other security agencies, carried out intelligence-led operations across Kampala and Wakiso, arresting more than 100 suspects linked to theft, narcotics, and social disorder.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, conducted a series of intelligence-led operations across the Kampala Metropolitan Area on Monday, March 23, 2026, resulting in the arrest of over 100 suspects.

The operations were launched in response to public complaints about rising criminal activity and aimed to curb crime while restoring order in affected communities, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala.

In Kajjansi Town Council, police operations in KKB Zone, Ssanyi Village, Dewey Village, and Kawali Village led to 17 arrests.

Jinja Road Division police apprehended seven suspects in Kilombe, while another seven were arrested in Namayumba by Kakiri Police.

The operations targeted criminal gangs linked to burglary, phone snatching, substance abuse, and attacks on pedestrians, particularly at night.

Complaints included social disorder, noise pollution, and illegal gambling.

Authorities also recovered several exhibits, including suspected narcotic substances. All suspects remain in police custody and are pending court proceedings.

“These intelligence-led operations are part of our continued efforts to respond to public concerns and ensure safety across the metropolitan area,” SP Kawala said.

Police have reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining similar operations to maintain public security across Kampala and surrounding areas.
