Police Nab Suspects Hiding in Ceiling After Robbery in Katabi

Police in Wakiso District have arrested three suspects linked to an armed robbery at a home in Katabi Town Council during the early hours of Monday morning.

According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident occurred on March 9, 2026 at around 3:30 AM in Kabaale B Ward, Katabi Town Council.

Owoyesigyire said the three suspects armed with pangas broke into the residence of Patrick Kagenda Amooti, 63, where they robbed him and his father, Prof. Charles Kagenda Atwooki.

The assailants reportedly stole Shs 570,000 in cash and a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 mobile phone.

"Police responded swiftly, surrounded the house, and arrested the suspects who had hidden in the ceiling,"Owoyesigyire said.

He identified the suspects as Acram Sekitoleko, Robert Oluka and Bashir Mbazira

"Police recovered the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Shs 240,000, part of the stolen money," he said, commending  members of the community for their cooperation, noting that their support greatly contributed to the successful arrests.
