Police in Kaabong district have launched a manhunt for eight armed men who robbed a truck driver along the Kotido–Kaabong road.
According to police, the attackers intercepted a Sino truck registration number UA 915BG that was transporting mixed goods destined for Shanisha Supermarket. The incident occurred at a secluded spot in Sidok Sub-county in Kaabong district.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the assailants, believed to be Karamojong warriors, stopped the vehicle and held the driver at gunpoint before robbing him of shs85,000 in cash.
Despite the attack, the suspects failed to access the cargo inside the truck.
The Karamoja Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Mike Longole, says security patrols have since been intensified in the area as police pursue the suspects behind the robbery.
Longole has also called on members of the public to volunteer any information that could help security agencies track down and arrest the armed criminals.
