Prisons says hunt for suspected Kiboga killer warder still on

Prisons has said they are still hunting for one of their own who last week shot dead four people including his superiors, before fleeing the scene in Kiboga.

The suspect, identified as Moses Anguyo, Warder No. 13544, allegedly opened fire at Kiboga Central Prison, killing Hope Catherine, the deputy officer-in-charge, Bright Akishuri, the third in command and Ayebare on the spot.

Another victim, toddler who was also shot, died a few hours later.

Giving an update on the case, Uganda Prisons spokesperson, Frank Baine said the suspect is yet to be apprehended, asking members of the public to provide information leading to his arrest.

“The security forces are still hunting the culprit. Help us amplify our voices to ensure we apprehend him and bring him to book,” Baine told journalists on Monday.

Reports from Kiboga indicated that on the fateful morning last week, the suspect was allegedly found y his superiors chatting on the phone while on duty.

It is alleged that the supervisors cautioned Anguyo before leaving his duty station but reports indicate that he would later follow them , before opening fire that killed the deputy officer-in-charge instantly while the other three succumbed to bullets wounds later while at Kiboga Hospital.
