Police have arrested three individuals in connection with a viral CCTV video showing a man being attacked near Gwanda Shopping Mall in Kisenyi, close to the Kisenyi Taxi Park.

The Uganda Police spokesperson, Kituuma Musoke, confirmed that three motorcycles allegedly used during the attack have been impounded.

“Three suspects in connection with the viral CCTV video circulating on social media, which shows a man being attacked, allegedly at Gwanda Shopping Mall in Kisenyi, near the Kisenyi Taxi Park, have been arrested,” Musoke said.

He added that authorities have identified two more suspects involved in the incident and that a manhunt is ongoing. Musoke promised that more details on the case will be shared in due course.

Police continue to appeal to the public to provide any information that could aid the investigation.

The footage shows a lone pedestrian intercepted by suspected thieves. Unlike a quick snatch-and-grab, the attackers physically assaulted the victim before robbing him in broad daylight near Gwanda Shopping Mall, a busy area filled with wholesalers and commuters.

Kisenyi, located in Kampala’s Central Division just south of the main business district, is known as a challenging area for law enforcement due to its high population density, the proximity of the Kisenyi Taxi Park and informal settlements with narrow alleys where police patrols often face operational difficulties.

The neighborhood is a key commercial and transport hub, home to wholesale markets and heavy daily commuter traffic, factors that sometimes complicate surveillance and crime prevention efforts.
