Nateete: Three Tracked, Arrested for Hitting man with Paver on Head during Polling Day

Police in Nateete have successfully tracked and arrested three suspects accused of hitting a man with a paver during the January 15, general elections.

Polly Kibirige Sekiranda, 63, a retired civil servant and resident of Kitebi cell, Mutundwe ward in Lubaga division was on January, 15 hit with a paver by unidentified persons as he returned from a polling station at Kitebi Primary School.

“The victim was found lying in a pool of blood and  was rushed to Kitebe Family Clinic and medical centre for first aid and later taken to Mulago Hospital,” Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala said.

He noted that after the incident, police embarked on tracking the suspect, three of whom were arrested on Wednesday, including Furik Seviri, Henry Male Kasule and Andrew Kyemwa Kitege.

Kawala said the cases files have been forwarded to the office of the DPP for perusal and legal advice before being taken to court.

More operations

In another operation, Police on Wednesday arrested 18 suspects in an intelligence-led operation in Bwyogerere central zone while another operation carried out  in Kigwanya zone in Busega, Rubaga division saw the arrest of 14 youths who were found with marijuana and a knife believed to be used in attacking members of the public.
