Traffic Police have impounded a Toyota Mark X that had been illegally converted into a pickup truck at Jinja Bridge.
The sedan, which had undergone extensive structural modification, was intercepted during routine traffic checks conducted under the ongoing #ArriveAlive Phase II operations.
Traffic Police spokesperson Micheal Kananura said the modification was both unlawful and dangerous.
“This vehicle was impounded at Jinja Bridge after it was found to be illegally modified. Imagine a Toyota Mark X converted into a pickup. Such vehicle modifications are unlawful,” Kananura said.
He added that enforcement teams remain firm in ensuring compliance with road safety regulations.
“Under the #ArriveAlive Phase II operations, no stone will be left unturned in enforcing road safety and compliance,” Kananura said.
Photos and videos of the converted Mark X quickly went viral on social media, with many users expressing shock and amusement at the unusual transformation.
Police have warned vehicle owners against illegal modifications, stressing that such alterations not only violate traffic laws but also pose serious risks to road users.
Kananura said more crackdowns are expected as the #ArriveAlive Phase II campaign continues across major highways and urban centres.
