Two people have been arrested in connection with cattle theft in Kapelebyong District, police have confirmed.

The suspects, identified as Moses Ojakala and Ben Olupot, are currently being held at Kapelebyong Central Police Station as investigations continue.

According to the Karamoja Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Mike Longole, the duo was arrested during a joint security operation after four stolen bulls were recovered from them at Adipala Cattle Market.

“The suspects were intercepted by joint security forces while in possession of the stolen animals,” Longole said.

Police said the arrests are part of ongoing operations aimed at tackling livestock theft, which remains a major contributor to insecurity and economic loss in parts of the Karamoja region.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to protecting the property of Ugandans and warned residents against engaging in cattle theft and related crimes.

Police also called on members of the public to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities promptly, and cooperate with security agencies to help build safer communities.
